Apprenticeship completion grant online application

Please note that the Government of Canada will end the Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG) and the Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG) on March 31, 2025. No application will be accepted after this date.

• Eligible apprentices must submit their application by the application deadline, which is 12 months from the date they complete the first or second year of their apprenticeship program (for the AIG) or 12 months from the date they complete their apprenticeship program (for the ACG).
• The final deadline for grant applications is March 31, 2025.
• For apprentices who have met the application requirements on or after March 31, 2024, they should submit an application by March 31, 2025, even if they have not received the supporting documents from SkilledTradesBC.

• Applicants will have 12 months from their application deadline to submit a complete application, including all required supporting documents.
• If the applicant does not submit a complete application within this additional 12-month period, they will no longer be eligible, and no further applications will be accepted.
• The last date to provide supporting documents is March 31, 2026.

Example 1: An apprentice demonstrated completion on 15 September 2023. Their application deadline is 15 September 2024. If the application received before the deadline is deemed incomplete, the apprentice has until 15 September 2025, to provide missing information or documents to complete their application.

Example 2: An apprentice demonstrated completion on 12 January 2025. Their application deadline is 31 March 2025. If the application received before the deadline is deemed incomplete, the apprentice has until 31 March 2026, to provide missing information or documents to complete their application.

The Government of Canada continues to provide other types of financial supports for apprentices, including loans, funding programs, tax deductions, and employment insurance while apprentices take their technical training. Please visit the Government of Canada’s website for more information.

Apprenticeship Grants for Red Seal Trades

Apprenticeship Incentive Grant

The Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG) is a taxable cash grant worth $1,000 per level up to a maximum of $2,000 for the first two years of your training in a Red Seal program.

Apprentices registered in a Red Seal program, who have successfully met the technical training and work-based training requirements for each grant. Please see the AIG requirements document for your trade.

Apprentices must complete technical training to be eligible, as per Service Canada. Level challengers are ineligible for this grant.

1. Submit your online application on the Apprenticeship Incentive Grant page.
2. Include a copy of your Letter of Progression in your online application. SkilledTradesBC will email you a copy of your Letter of Progression once you have met the technical training and work-based training requirements for the AIG.

Apprenticeship Completion Grant

The Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG) is a taxable grant of $2,000 for registered apprentices who have successfully completed their apprenticeship training program and have received their journeyperson certification in a Red Seal trade.
