ACT OF DONATION OF REAL ESTATE
To donate a thing or right to another person is to transfer such thing or right to another person without an exchange or payment. In other words it is the giving of something to another without receiving anything of value in return. It is purely gratuitous. The State of Louisiana requires the all transfers of land or real estate (immovable property) shall be done in writing, signed by both parties. Once executed this Act must be recorded in the conveyance records of the Parish where the property is located; if not, the transfer is not effective as to third parties.
